ADMIRAL BOOKLET

Re-entries

Little attention is paid to re-entries that occurred on the numerous booklet panes that Canada issued. Perhaps this is because collectors are not aware of any nice re-entries that can be found on them. Here are a few to whet your appetites.  (My thanks to Don Williams of Saskatoon Stamp Centre for starting us off with three booklet panes of the 1¢ green Admiral, Sc. #104a. The first with a major re-entry; the second with another major and a good re-entry; and the third with yet another major, plus two good re-entries.) This is followed by a lovely used pane of six I recently added to my collection showing a beautiful twisted major re-entry in the middle stamp of the bottom row (scroll to #7 for this one).

Scott #104aii  Pane 1

1¢ Admiral Green

Pane of Six

Major Re-entry on Stamp #4 (LL)

Ignoring the streaks in the right numeral box, which are not part of the variety, there is very major doubling of the left 1, and in ONE, as well as tiny marks in CENT. There are also marks in the white oval above NADA.

This is a significant re-entry.

Scott #104av Pane 2-1

1¢ Admiral Green

Pane of Six

Marler Group II - Horizontal Hairlines on Horizontal Wove Paper (Squat Printing)

Major Re-entry on Stamp #3 (UR)

Position 10-R-3-3 (Marler Fig. I.99)

The strongest of two re-entries in this pane, this major shows sharp doubling of the lower portion of the design, including both 1’s, the upper and lower lines of both numeral boxes, ONE CENT, and both inner and outer bottom framelines.

The streaks seen in the top of the design are ink pulls and not part of the re-entry.

Scott #104av  Pane 2-2

1¢ Admiral Green

Pane of Six

Re-entry on Stamp #5 (BC)

The second re-entry in this pane is not nearly as strong as the first, but shows nice doubling of the lower right portion of the design, including the 1, the upper line of the RNB, and slightly in parts of ONE CENT.

Scott #104av  Pane 3-1

1¢ Admiral Green

Pane of Six

Major Re-entry on Stamp #3 (UR)

The first of three re-entries on this pane, this major shows strong doubling across the lower portion of the design, including both 1’s, both numeral boxes, all of ONE CENT, and inner and outer bottom framelines.

Once again, the streaks seen in the upper parts of the design are pulled or dragged bits of ink and are not part of the re-entry.
